Dye Penetrant Inspection

DPI is an effective means of detecting surface-breaking flaws in ferrous or non-ferrous materials. These may be cracks, inclusions, voids or porous zones.

The dye, either water or solvent-based, is drawn into the fault by capillary action. Surplus dye is then removed from the surface and a developer is applied, which draws out the dye and provides a clear surface indication of the fault.
